When looking at packaged coconut milk, the brands that first come to mind will be Kara, Ayam Brand or Fairprice own in-house brands.
Emma brand of dairy-free coconut milk is still relatively unknown, however according to its Malaysian producer, Erapoly Global Sdn Bhd, this product in powder form has already been produced 4 years ago with the first launch for the HoReCa segment in Australia, Italy, South Africa and the US. Emma is a vegan coconut milk powder specifically formulated for vegan consumers and those with coeliac disease.
According to Tey Chee Shin, Senior Manager for Business Development at Erapoly, “Emma brand concept is green label with less E number and back to the mother earth concept. We have developed the vegan coconut milk powder with low GI. As such, compared to other competitors, our product is more close to the fresh coconut milk taste and easy to store, and competitive in price.” It can also be used in different industrial applications and not easy to get rancid compared to competitor products.
Consumers can also be assured of the quality of Emma as it is suitable for those with strict vegetarian diet and also for the health conscious consumers. Tey added, “Our products are also non-allergenic, convenient, no added flavor, no added preservative, cholesterol-free and GMO-free. With no artificial additives and ingredients such as carrageenan, customers are also able to consume them with ease of mind.”
Erapoly now offers importers Emma products in multiple packaging formats from retail packing (50g-300g) to HoReCa (1kg) and bigger industries (15kg). Emma product can be widely used in gelato and other beverages applications.
Presently, Emma has already been exported in bulk packaging for Italy, US, South Africa and Brazil. Erapoly sees strong potential for Emma to be sold in retail packing for the Southeast Asian market.
