The construction of a large-scale dairy production and processing facility was recently kicked off in north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The high-end milk production complex, capable of raising 100,000 cows, will cover a huge area of about 867 hectares in Bayannur City, with an investment of Rmb 4 billion (US$620 million).
The huge dairy complex, once completed, is expected to produce 550,000 tonnes of fresh milk annually and provide substantial incomes to more than 40,000 dairy farmers in the region, said Zhao Jiejun, Vice President of Mengniu Dairy. The dairy giant is cooperating with the local government to carry out the project.
Inner Mongolia now produces over 5.7 million tonnes of milk each year, with the largest market share for dairy production in China.
