CPRAM Co. Ltd, part of the Charoen Pokphand Group, has unveiled plan to open its new Bt 2 billion (US$60.5 million) bakery factory this year, after delays due to the pandemic.
Wisade Wisidwinyoo, CPRAM’s Managing Director said the factory has already started construction in 2022 on a 10-rai (1.6 hectare) plot in Pinthong Industrial Estate in Chon Buri province. It will be CPRAM’s 16th factory with a production capacity of 1.2 million bakery items daily.
Wisade said that the new factory will help meet the growing demand for the company’s bakery products in the country which recorded 12% growth annually.
Currently, CPRAM has 15 food factories located across 6 provinces. Six of them make bakery products, while the remaining 9 produce RTE meals. CPRAM plans to expand its bakery production to cover all regions of Thailand, capitalising on the growing demand for bakery products.
CPRAM reported sales of Bt 20.4 billion (US$617 million) in 2022, and it aims to double sales in 5 years. To achieve this, it also aims to focus more on expanding into healthy food, functional food and plant-based food in both the domestic and overseas markets. This is in line with growing health awareness among Thai and global consumers.
Wisade added, “Diseases are expected to become more complex and difficult to treat, therefore we use biotechnology to develop innovative food for individual customers who have different nutritional demands.”
CPRAM has allocated a budget of Bt 300 million (US$9.1million) to set up a food technology exchange centre near its office in Pathum Thani in line with its heavy investment in food innovations R&D up to the tune of Bt 200 million (US$6.05 million) annually.
