Nestle is all set to launch a cold instant-coffee product, Nescafe Ice Roast, in China and Mexico.
The Swiss multinational said the drink is Nescafe’s first soluble coffee designed to be consumed with cold water or milk, over ice.
Ice Roast is set to be launched in China in April this year followed by Mexico. Nestle reported that 15% of coffee is now drunk cold globally, with rising demand for products that mimic cafe style of cold coffee experiences but yet can be enjoyed at home.
Nestle aims to attract the younger generation of consumers that appreciate drinking of coffee when its cold. The older consumers usually still prefer hot coffee.
Damien Tissot, Head of Nestle’s Product Technology Center Coffee in Switzerland said, “With Ice Roast, we’ve created a light-medium roast that’s ideal to drink cold, with a smooth texture and cocoa notes that unlocks new sensory territory. By applying an innovative mindset, our teams have created a new sensory experience in cold coffee.”
The Nescafe cold-coffee line is the latest SKU to be introduced by Nestle. Last year, Nestle also launched paper-based and home-compostable coffee pods.
