Century Pacific Food Inc. said that its plant-based meat alternative brand, unMEAT continues to show strong potential in the Philippines and several markets abroad.
unMEAT Global Marketing Director Faye Matriano said, “The market for plant-based food alternatives in the Philippines is still nascent, but we believe in its long-term potential, and our continuous innovations will help further bring down barriers to the segment in terms of taste, affordability, and variety.”
unMEAT was launched in 2020 with an institutional rollout in Shakey’s Pizza amidst the pandemic restrictions and a growing consumer demand for alternative and healthier food options. It is now available at 7-Eleven and other major outlets.
The brand has even expanded to major overseas markets like the US, UAE, China, Singapore, Australia and some European countries. In the US, as an example, unMEAT can be found at 1,800 Walmart stores and 2,000 Albertson stores.
Matriano views the successful penetration in the overseas markets as a major success for the Filipino-based company, which has also earned international awards for the unMEAT brand.
Century’s COO and Executive Vice President Greg Banzon said the entry of Century Pacific into the plant-based category highlighted the company’s commitment to affordable and sustainable proteins.
