Thai-based food biotech company, IncreBio, formerly known as JuiceInnov8, has recently announced the launch of INCREDIBLE Juice, a Near Zero Sugar juice.
IncreBio aims to revolutionize juice in the current US$150 billion global juice market where there is limited innovation in the development of no/low sugar alternatives until now. While juice has been known for its high level of sugar comparable to carbonates or sugary drinks, IncreBio is planning to change that status quo with its proprietary technology that can create a Near Zero Sugar juice at a sugar level even lower than those found in skimmed milk.
The company plans to launch 2 variants of its Near Zero Sugar Juice in Singapore in the 4th quarter 2023 – INCREDIBLE Orange Juice and Apple Juice – with 70% of natural sugar removed which will make them the market’s lowest sugar/calorie juice. According to IncreBio, its sugar content per serve will be even lower than a glass of plain milk, and will make it the only juice brand that can achieve Nutri-Grade B in the country.
The launch in Singapore will be followed by a limited-time launch in Bangkok via pop-up store and selected food service outlets. The decision to choose Singapore for the debut launch is to signify Singapore’s vital role as the leader in the global food tech and innovation in this region.
After 8 years of research and development working closely with universities, IncreBio now holds the library to hundreds of natural sugar-reducing microbes isolated from plants, fruits and edible flowers. IncreBio’s natural strains were trained to specifically target natural sugar molecules in fruit juice from sucrose, fructose and glucose. The company then developed a Natural Machine within a Machine, a proprietary fermentation platform that precisely controlled the pathway of sugar-reducing microbes (natural machine) within bioreactor (machine)— with the aim to let them eat all the sugar instead of us. This resulted in 99.7% reduction in natural sugar in juice, all done without any genetic modifications.
