Vietnamese shrimp exports were projected to reach US$3.4 billion in 2023, a drastic drop of 21% compared to the same period in 2022, according to statistics released by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
There are 5 major local shrimp exporters and they include Stapimex, Minh Phu Seafood Corp, Minh Phu – Hau Giang, Cases, and Fimex VN.
The US, however, remains the country’s largest single shrimp export market and has been recording stable growth every year. The drastic drop in export was mainly attributed to the unstable demand in China and Hong Kong.
