Indonesia’s Trade Ministry is hoping that Japan will immediately remove 4 tariffI posts on canned tuna imported from Indonesia, as part of the protocol to amend the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA). Already, Japan had removed tariff posts for similar products from the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The Trade Ministry has included the removal of tariff as an essential component in the IJEPA amendment.
Indonesia hoped that the IJEPA Amendment Protocol negotiations can be completed during the ASEAN Summit held in Indonesia from 4 to 7 September. No further information was released.
