Luckin Coffee has recently lost a lawsuit alleging trademark infringement in Thailand.
The China-based coffee chain had sued local company 50R Group over its registration of ‘Luckin’ trademark in Thailand and had opened a number of stores over the past 2 years.
Luckin Coffee issued a statement a year ago emphasizing that it has not yet entered the Thai market, adding that counterfeit stores in the country have caused serious damage to its brand.
Singapore is Luckin’s first destination outside China, with the company running 18 offline outlets since opening its first store there in March 2023.
Luckin’s original logo features a deer looking to the right with a blue background color; in the Thai counterfeit version produced by 50R, the the deer gazes to the left while the rest remains the same.
