FMCG giant Unilever has recently started the construction of its first full line production and marketing base in China, to be located in Conghua district of Guangzhou.
With a massive injection of Rmb 1.6 billion (US$321.5 million), it is also Unilever’s largest investment in China in recent years, said Zeng Xiwen, President of Public Affairs at Unilever China.
The new production base will manufacture Unilever’s personal care products, food, ice cream and other goods. Its annual output value is estimated to reach Rmb 10 billion (US$2 billion) once the factories are in full swing by 2025.
The new base will also adopt intelligent digital production methods and build an end-to-end (E2E) smart supply chain covering production, storage and delivery. Unilever also plans to make it into a supply chain base serving other members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the whole world.
