French renewables firm, GreenYellow has partnered with Betagro, Thailand’s leading integrated food company, to develop on-site solar plants at 8 facilities in Thailand.
The multi-site project, with a total installed capacity of over 8.3MWp, comprises solar solutions which include solar rooftops, solar farms and solar carports.
Under the partnership terms, GreenYellow owns the 8 solar plants at Betagro’s facilities and offers significant electricity cost savings for the latter. These solar plants may produce up to 12GWh of green electricity annually, equivalent to 6,080 tonnes of CO2 emissions averted per year.
Chartchai Leukulwatanachai, Chief Operational Development Officer of Betagro said, “As of now, Betagro has implemented solar systems in the factories which calculated that at the peak time, solar energy has powered 75% of the energy used in the factory, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 22,000 tons in which solar power takes up approximately 8% out of the total electricity consumption throughout all factories.”
