Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has recently disclosed that it will carry out 6 measures to expedite the move in making Indonesia the world’s No.1 Halal food and beverage producer by 2024.
BPJPH aims to issue 10 million Halal product certificates, and for 2023 alone, it has a target of providing 1 million free Halal certificates.
BPJPH currently provides training for Halal product certification assistants. It is also implementing the Halal canteen program to ensure that all food and beverage products sold in canteens in all working units of the ministry get Halal certification.
Another measure is facilitating the implementation of Halal product certification in collaboration with various stakeholders. A BBJPH official said, “We had met with 22 ministries/agencies and committed to preparing a budget for facilitating self-declare and regular (halal) certification. This partnership program must also be carried out in all regions.”
The 5th measure is to conduct the mandatory Halal certification campaign at one thousand locations across the 34 Indonesian provinces.
The final measure is to ensure close monitoring as the key to achieving the certification target, with the involvement of all stakeholders.
