Malaysia’s Ministry of Health has approved the use of Kerry’s science-backed BC30™ as a probiotic culture in food products.
This comes after Malaysia Food Regulations amended probiotic regulations to include Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086 under its approved probiotic cultures list, which was released this January.
BC30TM (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086) can now be sold to food and beverage makers to be added to a wide range of probiotic-fortified food and beverage products in Malaysia.
In addition, these products can make the health claim that ‘probiotic cultures help in improving intestinal or gut function’.
Based on research findings,
- 57% of Malaysians say they would purchase a healthy lifestyle product that supports good digestive health
- 55% would buy a healthy lifestyle product based on their own research of a product’s ingredients and benefits.
- 61% perceive BC30™ to promote good digestive health
