Hiroshima-based Otafuku Sauce has recently announced in late-2023 that its Malaysian affiliate, Otafuku Sauce had started the construction of a new plant at an investment of Yen 1.5 billion (US$10.35 million).
The plant, located on a 9,066 sq.metre site, will commence operation in 2025 and will produce Halal seasonings such as okonomiyaki sauce, yakisoba sauce, and takoyaki sauce amongst others.
The new plant will have an annual production capacity of 1,200 kiloliter utilising sophisticated semi-automatic filling equipment and pouch filling machines to meet rapid growth in demand for Japanese sauces. The company also plans to increase production capacity to 10 times the current level in the future.
The plant will also promote Japanese okonomiyaki culture by establishing a tour space within the factory compound.
