The local authority of Ha Nam province, in northern Vietnam, has issued an investment registration certificate to Pepsico Foods Vietnam Company, allowing it to build a snack production plant at a cost of Dong 2 trillion (US$82.4 million).
The facility, whose construction is slated for completion in the 3rd quarter 2025, will produce up to 23,000 tons of snacks annually for the domestic and neighbouring Cambodian market.
The new factory will occupy 80,000 sq.meter of land near Dong Van I Industrial Park. Meanwhile, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was tasked with boosting potato cultivation to supply the raw material to the factory. The new factory is expected to focus on the production of Poca clean-label brand of snacks which is made of potatoes, and claimed to contain omega 3, low in cholesterol and animal fats, while also offering anti-inflammatory benefits.
PepsiCo is one of Vietnam’s leading snack manufacturers and it has so far invested US$500 million in the country to produce its major brands like Lay’s, Quaker, Doritos and Poca.
